CULINARY ADVENTURES: TRADITIONAL MARCHES REGION AND VEGETARIAN
COOKING PROGRAMS

The picturesque coastal town of Numana is located near Ancona, the capital
of the Marches Region on the Adriatic coast of Eastern Italy. It sits
within the regional park “Il Parco Regionale del Monte Conero” and is
of unique historical interest. The Conero is a 1650 feet high promontory
jutting out into the Adriatic Sea. The area offers beautiful walks, hikes,
panoramas, and sightseeing.

Language Instruction
2-week Italian language immersion (Date
to be set) with 4 hours of daily group instruction in the morning
(Monday through Friday). Emphasis is on pronunciation, conversational
skills, vocabulary and grammar. Real-life practice opportunities at local
outdoor markets, restaurants, etc. to enrich the learning experience.
Prerequisite: A minimum of one quarter of Italian or equivalent otherwise
by instructor’s permission.. Textbook: Prego, 4th or 5th Edition. Instructor:
Ronald Foglietti.
Culinary Adventures
The Traditional Cooking program (Date to be set ) will focus on Marches region dishes. Pasta, breads,
soups, salads, fish and meat recipes will be covered. Our lunches will
be based on the daily menu. Each day we will cover from antipasto to dessert.
Chef Marco Braconi will be our instructor.

Vegetarian cooking (Date to be
set). A unique first hand experience in a meatless Mediterranean
diet. We will have as our instructor Chef Dario Pierandi with 20 years
of experience as a chef and with over half of his career as a vegetarian
cook. We will cover each day a complete meal from antipasto to dessert.
We will use as much as possible organic foods for our preparations.

Lodging and meals (Language program)
13 nights beachfront accommodations at the hotel “La Spiaggiola” (little
beach). Breakfast and lunch are included in the package and are served
at the hotel’s restaurant or on its outdoor patio overlooking the beach.
The menu centers on the regional cuisine and includes pasta dishes, fish,
beef, chicken, duck, etc. A vegetarian menu is also offered. Mineral water
and wine are included. For dinner explore the local trattorie, pizzerie,
and ristoranti.

Excursions (all programs)
Two guided excursions (museums, Monte Conero guided walk, visit to winery,
olive oil farm, etc.) are included. We are planning to offer more excursions
and we are in the process to work out all details. These excursions
will be included in the package.
Air travel
Since participants may want to visit other parts of Italy prior to or
after the scheduled program, we are not including air travel and travel
insurance. We’ll be glad to recommend a travel agent to assist you with
this portion of your vacation. Pick-up from the Falconara-Ancona airport
or the Ancona railroad station is provided.
